Gurugram's Southern Peripheral Road to Witness Massive Infrastructure Boost

The Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) in Gurugram is poised for a major transformation as the Haryana government unveils an ambitious infrastructure plan to tackle traffic congestion and enhance connectivity. Spanning 14 km, the SPR connects key areas such as Golf Course Extension Road, Sohna Road, and NH-48, making it a vital corridor for commuters and businesses.

Key Highlights of the Project:

  1. Elevated Road from Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway to Vatika Chowk
A new elevated road, estimated to cost ₹750 crore, will provide seamless connectivity from the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway to Vatika Chowk. This development aims to reduce travel time and improve traffic flow significantly.

  2. Five Flyovers Between Vatika Chowk and Ghata
To further address congestion, five flyovers will be constructed along this stretch at an estimated cost of ₹550 crore.

  3. Additional Corridor Linking Delhi-Mumbai and Dwarka Expressways
A 5.5 km elevated corridor is also planned to link the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and Dwarka Expressway, offering more efficient travel options for residents and commuters.

A Step Towards Gurgaon's "Golden Future"

Haryana Cabinet Minister and Badshapur MLA Rao Narbir Singh emphasized the government's dedication to creating a "golden future" for Gurgaon. Speaking to residents, he highlighted that these upgrades would drive robust infrastructure development, improve connectivity, and enhance the city’s overall liveability.

Revamping SPR: Addressing Delays and Challenges

Initially proposed in 2019, the project experienced delays due to design revisions to accommodate additional infrastructure elements, such as cycle tracks, green spaces, and metro integration. However, renewed focus on execution has seen the Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) engaging consultants and inviting bids for upgrades, with work slated to begin soon.

Impact on Gurgaon's Real Estate Market

The infrastructure boost is expected to have a transformative effect on Gurgaon's real estate landscape. Improved connectivity will enhance the appeal of residential and commercial projects along SPR, driving demand and potentially increasing property values. Key areas such as New Gurugram are likely to witness heightened investor interest and real estate development activity.

Mohit Agarwal, Business Head at Conscient Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., remarked, "This project strengthens connections between residential hubs and fosters growth in Gurgaon's luxury real estate market. Improved infrastructure is pivotal for shaping Gurgaon into a modern, well-connected city."

A Vision for Sustainable Growth

With the integration of green spaces, modern transit systems, and advanced infrastructure, the SPR development plan aligns with Gurgaon's vision for sustainable urban growth. As these projects come to fruition, they are expected to position Gurgaon as a leading destination for real estate investment and urban development in India.
